Steps to successful return of serve in tennis

1. Anticipate the serve by watching the server's body and racket position.

2. Position yourself properly by standing slightly behind the baseline and
slightly towards the middle of the court.

3. Split step just before the server makes contact with the ball to maintain
balance and react quickly.

4. Focus on tracking the ball from the server's racket to the moment it crosses
the net.

5. Step into the return using a small shuffle step or a large step, depending on
the speed and trajectory of the serve.

6. Meet the ball in front of your body and make contact in the center of the
racket for better control.

7. Swing the racket with a smooth and compact motion, aiming to direct the
ball back deep into the opponent's court.

8. Follow through with the swing and recover quickly to a neutral position for
the next shot.

9. Practice returning serves of different speeds and spins to improve your
reflexes, timing and accuracy.

10. Stay mentally focused and confident, knowing that each return is an
opportunity to dictate the point and put pressure on your opponent.
